
THE PROJECT
Doorway to Change Foundation uses Guest Speakers, Conference, Employment and Careers Opportunities to achieve our goals. Doorway to Change Foundation will follow these young women and men involved in our programs. We believe all these women and men can achieve a positive outcome if the entire community is willing to support and work as one unit for their betterment.
Our long-term strategic plan focuses on implementing effective strategies to seek seed capital investments that will leverage millions of dollars of services and economic development that will continue to circulate within our neighborhoods and revitalize these lives and their children, housing, education to bring back a sense of worth and purpose; and to build or lease a building to serve as a Business center that will provide programs and activities to build and enrich the lives in our local communities.

Help, “I need a life line” – This is currently in plan status until adequate housing is found.

How to combat homelessness? – Currently in planning status.

Female Motivation / Counseling – Participants will receive one-on-one and group counseling to identify and address various issues in their lives. Group counseling sessions will focus on uprooting the cause of the problem by educating the women on the signs of dating violence, violence prevention, peer pressures, anger management, self-esteem, hygiene and etiquette. Our group-counseling sessions address learning skills that will aid them in changing addictive and low self-esteem behaviors.

Self-Awareness curriculum / Life Skills Training – Participants will be taught various skills that help them to live a more productive lifestyle. Sessions will include teaching on anger management, conflict resolution, decision-making, self-esteem, assertiveness training, beauty within/without and money management.
The Female Motivation and Self-Awareness session will be planned and supervised by our program director and require 100% of our time and resources.
Scholarship Program – We will provide scholarships for those seeking help to meet some of the demands colleges require such as, books, school supplies, and tuition. This scholarship fund is available to all applicants who are current and past clients of Door to Change Foundation organization. Our fundraising effort would be an evening gala ball, fashion show or other fundraising options.

Financial Management – Teach men, women and families how to manage finances, open a bank account and create good credit line. Program is currently in place.
Job Resource Center – Is a collaborating partnership with other facility to keep the young men and women informed of job opportunities and job readiness. Program is still in planning stage.
Home Purchasing – Physical location is still in the planning stage, we currently do not have a physical housing, property or buildings, and however, when ready a Schedule F may need to be filed in compliance with the Internal Revenue Service code for 501(c) (3) status.
Youth Build Program – Is a program to help our youth females and males an opportunity to seek a career in the housing and home renovation program.

How does the activity further your exempt purpose?
All our activities are charitable acts, it is designed to help those families, and single mothers least fortunate, answer homelessness, and low income.
Where is the activity conducted?
All of our services are currently being conducted in CA, MD, DC, VA, FL with possible future growth to other States.
How is the activity funded?
Most of our funding is out of pocket donations from Board of Directors, volunteers, private donors with future plans for fundraising, grants and gifts.
THE HARD TRUTH
46.7 million people in poverty

According to the United States Census Bureau, In 2014, the official poverty rate was 14.8 percent. There were 46.7 million people in poverty. Neither the poverty rate nor the number of people in poverty were statistically different from the 2013 estimates.

In 2014, real median household income was lower than in 2007, the year before the most recent recession, and the household income peak that occurred in 1999.

The poverty rate in 2014 for children under age 18 was 21.1 percent. The poverty rate for people aged 18 to 64 was 13.5 percent, while the rate for people aged 65 and older was 10.0 percent. None of these poverty rates were statistically different from the 2013 estimates.
